FAQ
1. Questions about storage locations (2)
We recommend saving it locally, for example, directly on the C drive or in the "Documents" folder. If you use OneDrive, please configure it so that the datango storage location remains accessible on your device. If OneDrive deletes files locally and only keeps them in the cloud, this may lead to unexpected behavior. If you’ve selected a network drive or an external hard drive, make sure no more than 5 seconds elapse when creating the file, and ensure that two or more people never attempt to edit the same content at the same time!
There is a short tutorial on this topic: I:\!intern\Documents & Knowledgebase\Change Location.docx
2. Questions about the mounting strip (2)
Please check to see if you have installed the latest Windows updates; some of our DLL files are no longer supported by older versions of Windows. If you have closed Creator and Live! as well as all other Java applications, but still see a java.exe or javaw.exe process in the “Details” tab of the Windows Task Manager, please terminate the process and then check again to see if you can record normally.
In the middle of the recording bar is a white circle with arrow buttons. You can use these to expand various parameters and access options.
3. Questions about SAP (2)
SAP Settings:
- Under Options -> Accessibility and Scripting -> Script Support, Script Support must be installed and enabled. The sub-option “Notify when a script connects to SAP GUI” must be disabled. (This would prevent recording in SAP.)
- SAP Scripting must also be enabled on the server, and you need read access.
- We recommend deactivating the "Animated focus activated" checkbox in the SAP GUI options under Theme / Preview if you want to work with the practice and test mode, as otherwise it is visible at first glance where you have to click.
- You have the option of switching off the tooltip for interaction design and notifications. Additional descriptions no longer appear when the mouse is positioned on a button. These additional "flags" are otherwise visible on the screenshots and may cover part of the image and reveal where to click in test mode.
- Go to Options -> Local Data -> History -> Turn Off History. New users do not have a history and therefore cannot type a few letters in the production system and then use AutoComplete.
Run transaction "RZ11," enter the parameter name "sapgui/user_scripting," and click the "Display" button. If the parameter is not found, the system's package-level support is insufficient (admin rights required).
On the next screen, the current value should be "TRUE." If it shows as "FALSE," please click "Change Value."
Set the value to “TRUE” and save it. The value must be entered in uppercase; otherwise, it will be interpreted as “FALSE.”
It is better to have the profile value set to “TRUE” instead of the current value, since this is the default value that is set after a server restart.
If the parameter “sapgui/user_scripting_per_user” is also set to “TRUE,” all datango users require the “Execute(16)” permission for the authorization object “S_SCR” in class “BC_A.” Alternatively, the parameter `sapgui/user_scripting_set_readonly` can be set to “TRUE,” since read-only access is entirely sufficient for datango.
We can also set the “sapgui/user_scripting_disable_recording” parameter to “TRUE” without any issues, since datango does not record new scripts.
If the NWBC is used, “sapgui/nwbc_scripting” can also be set to “TRUE”; this is equivalent to simultaneously enabling “sapgui/user_scripting” and “sapgui/user_scripting_set_readonly.”
4. Questions about the design (3)
This is not possible for the simulations. Here you should set the recording area as required before recording. For the documentation, it is possible to crop the screenshots afterwards. This can be done manually or automatically. If you only want to crop the task bar, please contact support.
The tooltip lets you insert different "text types," such as a yellow warning triangle or a lightbulb icon for a hint. You can also insert images.
datango Support can work with you to design a customized bubble style, which may incur costs. You have various setting options under Tools -> Settings -> Initialization values.
5. Questions About the Ad (2)
It is absolutely necessary to save after every change. You can tell whether changes have been saved by looking at the unit or the journey. If there is an * next to the name, it means the changes haven't been saved. If the asterisk * is gone, the new changes have been saved.
In Word, do the following: View -> Outline -> then click “Expand Subheadings” and close the window. It will now display correctly. This step only needs to be done in Word.
6. Comprehension Questions (4)
Please make sure that the "Edit Workspaces" permission has been granted (not just "View Workspaces").
The "waLiveGlossary" workspace is the library for the "Augmented Tooltip" and must not be deleted or deactivated. Otherwise, the collaborator server or the live! client may no longer function properly.
Shared content" means that content that is stored there can be regarded as "original". Links can be created from this original in the folder structures, otherwise these are not visible to the end user. The project can therefore be integrated into the folder structure as often as you like. If the "Original" is edited and saved under "Sharedcontent", the linked projects are also edited. Shared content can only be deleted in the server with the appropriate authorization, as individual authors cannot know whether other authors are also using the content.
Add a new unit: This is about creating the simulations or e-learning modes for a process, for example, i.e. the demo, exercise, test and practice mode. You record your process and create the required recordings for the e-learning modes at the same time. You can then create the documentation if necessary. With a new Journey, you create a universal training course, a classic manual (multimedia) document, without process recording. You can then also integrate the various e-learning modes, additional documents, graphics or videos etc. into this.
7. Questions About Operation (7)
To do this, you must click on "Administration" in the Collaborator on "OUs, groups and users". If you search for the "Master authors" group and click on it, you will see on the right which users are in this group. Here you can delete the user by clicking on the persona icon "-". This is located at the bottom right. Then add the user in question to the "Standard authors" group. To do this, use the "+" persona icon.
If you're only using the Creator, you can click on the desired unit and select "Hide" on the right. This will hide that mode from end users. This also works for entire units, journeys, and folders. You can specify that Demo and Practice modes should be displayed, while Test and Hands-On modes should be hidden. Then only the Demo and Practice modes will be displayed.
You can use the Collaborator to control which content is to be published and this is then made available via the Media Center, Live!, course view or direct links. If you do not want to use the Collaborator, you can copy the content to another web server; you can find the function in the Creator under "Content management" and then "Publish".
Please take a document that you have created with datango and save it in any location. Delete all content except for the heading, for example, and then replace the designs in the header and footer. You can also change the fonts and font sizes in the Word text styles. However, please do not add or delete any. The included fields such as "Title", "Author", "Date" and "Page numbers" are the only ones supported. Save and import them via Tools -> Settings -> Application -> Documentation -> Customized styles by clicking on the "+" icon.
In the Creator under Tools -> Documentation for Unit or Journey. Here you can select the different formats Word, PDF, PowerPoint or HTML.
Yes, you can already delete the screenshots during recording if you go to the mini-screenshots in the recording bar and right-click to say that you want to delete. However, you also have the option of clicking on "Delete page irrevocably" in the recording bar. You can also do this in post-processing by right-clicking on the screenshot.
To make this possible, an author can move a folder / content from "Local Content" to the server folder (Main) at any time.
9. Questions About Malfunctions (3)
Please check to make sure your Windows scaling is set to 100%, regardless of what Windows marks as “Recommended.” The Creator requires this setting for proper recording. Right-click on the desktop and select “Display settings.” Select “Scaling” and set it to 100%. Then, please log out of Windows and log back in so that the change takes effect.
It is important that you publish the content you want to display in Live! in Collaborator. Also, the correct language must be set in Live! If you are unsure, switch the language and search in a different one. If you are looking for German content, try switching it so that only English is active, and then switch it back so that German is active again. Sometimes German is displayed as active even though it is not.
The practice mode only stays in the foreground when you start it from Live! In version 3.6 the practice mode does not stay in the foreground, this is not correct and will be fixed soon.
8. Questions About Training (1)
In Creator, you can access our manual via the Help menu; it is very detailed and covers all the icons and topics included in the training. We also offer “datango for datango” content for purchase. Please contact our Support or Customer Care team.
10. Technical Questions (5)
If you click on other screens, those clicks will also be recorded. If a specific screen area is defined, only that area will be recorded. This setting is the same for all authors connected to the same Collaborator.
Yes, licenses are required; please contact us.
Starting with version 3.6, there is no longer a Java installation. We extract an “Open JRE,” which works without installation and does not conflict with existing Java installations.
You send us the DKP files, and we’ll convert them into PRS files for you. We’ll then make them available to you again, and you can import the PRS files into the Creator via Content Management -> Archive.
However, we require a written order before we can process the files.
Pages 3 through 5 of the Creator and Live! Admin manuals contain instructions for software distribution.
